Interdisciplinary Learning System (SAI) 

Achieving their foundational objectives, at the beginning of the nineties Fundación Proydesa aimed to recover the formative function of education coordinating it with the appearance of the new information technologies.

In the constant search for the best pedagogical practices which improve the quality of education and lead to a significant learning accessible to anyone, Fundación Proydesa has developed the Interdisciplinary Learning System.

The guiding idea was to incorporate the "intelligent use of software" in the primary schools of all the country so that students and teachers could make their first steps into the Information Society, through an interdisciplinary, friendly and multimedia curricular design. 

This computational tool that joined the modern pedagogical practice with the active participation of the teacher, covered different issues of the General Basic Education and was installed in more than 1,000 schools of the country.:

  SAI Language: With the premise "language promotes social participation and tends to reinforce the iquality of the individuals", the objective of this development was:

1) Transforming the students in active recipients and transmitters and in critics of oral messages

2) Making the students become competent and creative readers and writers

3) Stimulating reflection about the language facts

4) Favoring the reading of complete literary works

 SAI Mathematics: The introduction of computers in the educational world was reflected in new mathematical problems that led the child to optimize his thinking. This software gave the possibility to experiment mathematically, enriching his conceptual field and his mental operations.

  SAI Social Sciences: To make the student accept a central role as a participant and culture agent, this development worked on the understanding of the following items:

1) The interdependence of the historical facts and the mutual implication with the geographical site

2) The multicausality of the conflicts

3) The global context in which they develop

SAI Natural Sciences: With emphasis on the scientific "process" more than on the science "product", this software was based on three fundamental principles:

1) A humanist conception of Science

2) An integrated and interdisciplinary approach

3) Respecting the basic principles of the learning process

 SAI Ethic and Social Formation: Based on the social demand for a school forming upright people and good citizens, the focus was set on:

1) The family as the basic social group

2) The National Constitution as Fundamental Law of the Nation

3) Awareness of the effort required in the national construction through its history

4) Formulation of Critical Judgments

  SAI Transversal Contents: Created to palliate some problems that the society discovers as temporary, they cover subjects such as Road Safety Education and Environmental Education. The treatment of transversal contents such as the current social worries must be the axis on which the curricular areas turn around, which acquire the necessary instrumental value to the achievement of the wanted goals.

SAI works with an original, simple computing design that can be operated immediately, even by those who do  not have any knowledge of computing.
